 Be honest.

Do you find yourself thinking, “I have to do this! while deep inside you are dragging, resisting, or avoiding every possible step to actually do the task at hand?  

Do you ever think, “they are making me do this?”  “They”  could be your teacher assigning you homework, your boss giving you an undesirable project, your parents requiring some family obligation, or your church group, friends, or the I.R.S. requiring some action on your part.

Are you on track with your New Year’s resolutions?

Remember those New Year’s resolutions you set back in January 2016?  

Remember how important they were to you and how determined you were to achieve them?

It is time to take an honest look at where you are now in completing those goals.  

According to John Norcross and Dominic Vangarelli close to 60% of people will drop their resolutions by 6 months reverting back to old behaviors and habits.  Peter Herman concluded that many people don’t achieve their goals because of “false hope syndrome.” This means that there is a fundamental difference between the goal and your personal belief that you are capable of reaching it.

Do you have an Olympian mindset?

Like many of you, for the past two weeks I was glued to the television watching with tremendous admiration athletes of all races, from both third world and first world countries, share the stage in performing extraordinary athletic feats under intense pressure and competition at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

With a current goal of meeting the daily 10,000 step minimum or at least getting 150 minutes weekly of moderate exercise as recommended by the American Heart Association, my time was quickly slipping by.

Science has long proven the benefits exercise has on our physical and mental well-being.

Staying in shape and exercising regularly has been a part of my routine for many years. However recently I decided to actually measure my activity and collect data to see if my exercise habits are actually meeting the 10,000 step guideline ( about 5 miles ).
